| Request Details | DJ: Hello, I’m planning my Nikah + Reception for 12 November 2026 and I’d like to get a quote from you for DJ services. A little about the event and the kind of experience we want: The bride is in her late 40s and the groom is in his 50s, so the majority of our guests will also be mature adults. We want the reception to feel classy, warm, enjoyable and well-coordinated, rather than excessively loud or rowdy. Music preference: • A good mix of Nigerian classics, old-school/highlife, juju, Afrobeat/Afropop, R&B, soul and selected contemporary Nigerian music. • We also enjoy international classics from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. • Some tasteful Islamic/Nigerian wedding-appropriate music can also be incorporated where appropriate. • Music should be carefully selected to appeal to a mature audience while still keeping the younger guests entertained. • We would prefer a progressive build-up of energy rather than starting very loud or turning the reception into a club atmosphere. Parts of the event to cover: • Guest arrival/pre-reception ambience • Reception entrance • Couple's entrance • First dance/couple moments • Cake cutting • Any planned games or activities • Dinner • Dance session • General reception entertainment until the close of the event The groom is a very private and reserved person and does not enjoy excessive noise, so please keep the volume at a comfortable level and avoid unnecessary shouting, sirens, air horns or overly aggressive DJ effects. We want a DJ who can read the room and adjust the music accordingly, keeping guests engaged without overwhelming them. Please also advise on the sound equipment you recommend for a venue of this nature and guest size, including speakers, microphones, mixers, monitors, backup equipment, etc. If you have suggestions on how best to structure the music throughout the reception based on your experience with mature audiences, I’d be happy to hear them. Thank you. MC: Hello, I’m planning my Nikah + Reception for 12 November 2026 and I’d like to get a quote for your MC services. We are looking for an MC who can create a warm, elegant, lively and enjoyable atmosphere without making the event excessively loud or rowdy. The bride is in her late 40s and the groom is in his 50s, and most of our guests will also be mature adults. So we would prefer an MC who is mature, polished, confident, witty and engaging, with good command of the room and excellent audience management. The groom is also a very shy and private person who does not enjoy a lot of noise or being put under unnecessary pressure, so this is particularly important to us. What we would like the MC to handle: • Welcome and engage guests • Coordinate the programme and keep things moving smoothly • Introduce the couple and key members of the wedding party • Make announcements • Coordinate the couple's entrance and other key moments • Introduce the Nikah/reception highlights • Coordinate cake cutting, first dance and other planned activities • Facilitate any appropriate games or interactive activities • Coordinate speeches/toasts where applicable • Work closely with the DJ and other vendors • Keep to the programme/timeline and manage transitions smoothly • Maintain a pleasant atmosphere throughout the reception The kind of MC we want: Someone who can be entertaining without shouting, forcing guests to participate or constantly calling attention to the couple. We prefer intelligent humour, tasteful banter, light audience interaction and sophisticated entertainment rather than excessive hype. Please avoid: • Excessive shouting or screaming • Embarrassing the couple or guests • Forcing people onto the dance floor • Inappropriate jokes or adult humour • Excessive games • Prolonged call-and-response activities • Anything that could make the groom uncomfortable • Turning the reception into a loud party/club atmosphere The languages should primarily be English, with appropriate use of Yoruba and/or Nigerian Pidgin where it naturally adds to the atmosphere. We are also open to your recommendations based on the audience. We would appreciate it if you could also advise us on how you would structure the entertainment and audience engagement for a mature wedding audience. Thank you. |
