A living analysis of the services, locations and business combinations represented among active wedding vendor profiles on Marriage In Nigeria.
Current data snapshot: 4,241 active vendor profiles
Last updated: 26 August 2026
Finding a wedding photographer, planner or caterer is easy in theory. Finding the right one in the right location—with enough alternatives to compare—is harder.
That is the gap this report explores.
This edition analyses 4,241 profiles marked active on the Marriage In Nigeria wedding vendor directory. It looks beyond the headline number to examine which services are most represented, where profiles are concentrated, which services commonly appear together and how the directory’s current active profile base was built.
The result is a wedding vendor landscape drawn specifically from Marriage In Nigeria’s platform data, not an estimate of every wedding business in the country.
The findings reveal a platform with nationwide reach but uneven local depth. Photography and planning have broad representation. Lagos accounts for one-third of profiles. One in three vendors lists more than one service. Meanwhile, several specialist categories and state-level markets still contain relatively few profiles.
Scope of this report: These figures describe active profiles listed on Marriage In Nigeria. They do not represent every wedding business operating in Nigeria and should not be reported as an official estimate of the size of Nigeria’s wedding industry.
The Wedding Vendor Landscape at a Glance
- 4,241 active vendor profiles are included in this edition.
- Those profiles contain 5,825 service selections across 21 categories.
- Vendors list an average of 1.37 services per profile.
- 1,406 profiles—33.2%—list at least two services.
- Active profiles have stated locations covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
- Photography is the most represented service, appearing on 1,266 profiles.
- Lagos appears in the stated locations of 1,424 profiles.
- The four leading locations—Lagos, the FCT, Ogun and Oyo—appear in 52.2% of distinct profiles.
- The most common complementary pairing is planning and decor, found together on 320 profiles.
- 3,940 profiles—92.9% of the current snapshot—were created during 2026 through 26 August.
Why This Report Exists
Large totals are useful for celebrating growth, but they do not tell couples whether there is meaningful choice for a particular service in a particular location.
A national directory can contain thousands of profiles while still having local shortages. It may have hundreds of photographers but only a small number of security providers, bands or car-hire businesses. It may cover every state while concentrating most of its profiles in a handful of commercial centres.
This report turns the information already present on Marriage In Nigeria into a clearer picture of the platform’s vendor landscape. It is designed to help:
- couples understand why service and location should be searched together;
- wedding businesses see where representation is already dense or comparatively thin;
- journalists, researchers and industry publishers reference a transparent, dated source;
- Marriage In Nigeria measure how the directory changes as more profiles are added, updated or removed.
How the Findings Were Calculated
This edition uses aggregated information from profiles marked active on Marriage In Nigeria on 26 August 2026. Each platform profile is counted once.
The analysis uses listing-level fields needed to calculate service categories, stated business locations and profile creation dates. Private contact, account and payment information is not part of the published analysis.
Several rules matter when interpreting the figures:
- The unit is a platform profile. A profile is not necessarily a unique incorporated company, and similar business names can occur.
- Service counts overlap. A business can list photography and videography, or planning and decor, on the same profile.
- Location counts can overlap. Ninety-five profiles mention more than one state or the FCT in their stated business locations.
- Location is based on what profiles state. It does not necessarily describe every place a vendor is willing to travel to.
- Creation dates are platform dates. They show when profiles active in this snapshot were added to Marriage In Nigeria—not when the businesses were founded.
- Representation is not demand. A small category count may identify a platform coverage gap, but it does not by itself prove high customer demand or a commercial opportunity.
- The report is a dated snapshot. The live directory may change after the reporting date.
These boundaries are important. They make the report useful without presenting first-party platform data as a national census.
Which Wedding Services Are Most Represented?
The 4,241 active profiles contain 5,825 service selections across 21 categories. Because vendors can choose more than one category, the percentages below show the share of profiles that list each service; they should not be added together.

Figure 1: Active profiles by listed service on Marriage In Nigeria, 26 August 2026.
| Rank | Service | Profiles | Share of all profiles |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Photographer | 1,266 | 29.9% |
| 2 | Planner | 941 | 22.2% |
| 3 | Decor | 651 | 15.4% |
| 4 | Caterer | 626 | 14.8% |
| 5 | Cake | 388 | 9.1% |
| 6 | DJ | 367 | 8.6% |
| 7 | Videographer | 307 | 7.2% |
| 8 | Attire & Styling | 296 | 7.0% |
| 9 | Venue | 163 | 3.8% |
| 10 | Rentals | 157 | 3.7% |
| 11 | Makeup | 147 | 3.5% |
| 12 | Stationery / Printing | 90 | 2.1% |
| 13 | MC | 83 | 2.0% |
| 14 | Hair | 71 | 1.7% |
| 15 | Lighting | 69 | 1.6% |
| 16 | Band | 53 | 1.2% |
| 17 | Ushers | 52 | 1.2% |
| 18 | Drinks & Bar | 31 | 0.7% |
| 19 | Alaga/Alaga Ijoko | 30 | 0.7% |
| 20 | Security | 22 | 0.5% |
| 21 | Car Hire | 16 | 0.4% |
Photography Is the Largest Category—but Not the Whole Story
Photography appears on 1,266 profiles, equivalent to 29.9% of the directory snapshot. That makes it the most visible service category by a clear margin.
Planning follows with 941 profiles. Decor and catering form the next tier, with 651 and 626 profiles respectively. Together, these four services reflect the visual, organisational and hospitality work at the centre of many weddings.
The ranking should not be read as a measure of demand. It tells us which services are most represented among active Marriage In Nigeria profiles. A category can be large because it contains many businesses, because those businesses are easier to identify and onboard, or because vendors frequently combine it with other services.
Specialist Categories Have Much Thinner Representation
Seven services contain fewer than 70 profiles each: lighting, bands, ushers, drinks and bar services, Alaga/Alaga Ijoko, security and car hire.
This becomes more important after location filters are applied. Sixteen car-hire profiles across the entire snapshot cannot provide broad local choice across 37 state-level jurisdictions. The same is true for security, with 22 profiles, and Alaga/Alaga Ijoko, with 30.
These are directory representation gaps, not proof that the services are scarce throughout Nigeria. Still, they show where the platform has the greatest room to improve category depth.
One in Three Profiles Lists More Than One Service
Most active profiles list a single service, but multi-service businesses form a substantial part of the directory.

Figure 2: Distribution of active profiles by number of listed services.
| Number of services | Profiles | Share of profiles |
| 1 service | 2,835 | 66.84% |
| 2 services | 1,244 | 29.33% |
| 3 services | 149 | 3.51% |
| 4 or more services | 13 | 0.31% |
Altogether, 1,406 profiles list two or more services, representing 33.2% of the active-profile snapshot.
This reflects how wedding businesses often operate. A photographer may also offer video coverage. A planner may handle decor. A caterer may produce cakes. A DJ may supply lighting.
For couples, a multi-service vendor can reduce the number of separate suppliers to coordinate. It can also create risk if the extra services are outsourced or outside the vendor’s strongest area. Couples should ask who will perform each service, request relevant examples and insist on a clear written breakdown of responsibilities and fees.
For vendors, the lesson is different: list only services the business can genuinely deliver or manage, and make the relationship between those services clear on the profile.
The Most Common Complementary Service Combinations
The pairings reveal the practical relationships between categories more clearly than the category totals alone.

Figure 3: The ten most common pairs of services listed on the same active profile.
| Service pair | Profiles listing both services |
| Planner and Decor | 320 |
| Photographer and Videographer | 254 |
| Cake and Caterer | 151 |
| Caterer and Planner | 123 |
| Caterer and Decor | 68 |
| Decor and Rentals | 63 |
| Cake and Planner | 59 |
| Attire & Styling and Decor | 52 |
| Cake and Decor | 52 |
| DJ and Lighting | 46 |
Three relationships stand out:
- Planning and decor: 320 profiles list both. That equals 49.2% of all decor profiles and 34.0% of all planning profiles.
- Photography and videography: 254 profiles list both. That means 82.7% of videography profiles also list photography, while 20.1% of photography profiles also list videography.
- Cake and catering: 151 profiles list both. That represents 38.9% of cake profiles and 24.1% of catering profiles.
The direction of those percentages matters. Videography is frequently an additional capability on a photography profile, but most photographers do not list videography. In the same way, decor is often paired with planning, although most planning profiles do not list decor.
Where Are Vendor Profiles Concentrated?
Marriage In Nigeria has at least one active profile whose stated location maps to each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT. That is meaningful geographic reach, but it should not be confused with equal local choice.

Figure 4: The 15 most represented state-level locations in active vendor profiles.
Lagos appears in the stated locations of 1,424 profiles, or 33.6% of the snapshot. The FCT is second with 286 profiles. Lagos therefore has almost five times the representation of the next location.
The four leading locations—Lagos, the FCT, Ogun and Oyo—appear in 2,215 distinct profiles, representing 52.2% of the dataset. The ten leading locations appear in 3,056 profiles, or 72.1%.
Across the 37 jurisdictions, the median number of profile mentions is 68. Nine jurisdictions have 25 or fewer: Adamawa, Sokoto, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Zamfara, Taraba, Kebbi and Yobe.
This does not mean couples in those states have only the listed businesses available. Vendors may travel, and many businesses will not yet have a Marriage In Nigeria profile. It does mean the platform currently offers fewer local profiles to compare in those places.

Location totals overlap because 95 profiles mention more than one state or the FCT. Browse the platform’s wedding vendor state directory for live results.
Service Availability Changes From One Location to Another
National category totals can hide important local differences. The heatmap below compares the eight most represented services across the ten leading locations.

Figure 5: Service counts within the ten most represented state-level locations.
Photography leads in most of the top locations, but not all:
- In the FCT, planning appears on 81 profiles, compared with 58 for photography.
- In Anambra, planning narrowly leads photography, 35 profiles to 31.
- Oyo has 52 videography profiles, substantially more than the FCT or Ogun despite similar overall profile totals.
- Lagos leads every service shown, largely because its overall profile base is much larger.
There is also a difference between category size and geographic breadth. Photography appears in 36 of the 37 jurisdictions, attire and styling also appears in 36, catering in 35, decor in 34 and planning in 33.
Specialist categories are much narrower: Alaga/Alaga Ijoko and car hire each appear in seven jurisdictions, while security appears in six. That limited reach is a stronger indicator of platform coverage gaps than the national category total alone.
When the Current Active Profiles Were Added
The creation dates of the profiles in this snapshot begin in July 2025. Growth accelerated sharply from March 2026.

Figure 6: Creation timeline for the 4,241 profiles active in this edition.
| Month | Profiles added | Cumulative profiles in snapshot |
| July 2025 | 7 | 7 |
| August 2025 | 90 | 97 |
| September 2025 | 60 | 157 |
| October 2025 | 70 | 227 |
| November 2025 | 36 | 263 |
| December 2025 | 38 | 301 |
| January 2026 | 56 | 357 |
| February 2026 | 72 | 429 |
| March 2026 | 857 | 1,286 |
| April 2026 | 1,244 | 2,530 |
| May 2026 | 547 | 3,077 |
| June 2026 | 140 | 3,217 |
| July 2026 | 516 | 3,733 |
| August 2026, through the 26th | 508 | 4,241 |
Only 301 profiles in the current snapshot were created during 2025. Another 3,940 were created in 2026 through 26 August, representing 92.9% of the active profiles analysed.
March and April 2026 alone account for 2,101 profiles, or 49.5% of the current snapshot. From March through 26 August, 3,812 profiles were added—89.9% of all profiles in this edition.
These figures demonstrate rapid directory expansion, but they are not a historical record of the platform’s net profile count at the end of each month. They describe the creation dates of profiles that remained active on the snapshot date. Removed or inactive profiles are not represented.
What the Findings Mean for Couples
Search by Service and Location Together
The most useful search is rarely “photographer” on its own. A couple needs a photographer who serves the event location, fits the wedding style, is available on the date and works within the budget.
Use the Marriage In Nigeria vendor directory to combine service and location filters. Where local results are thin, ask vendors whether they travel and what additional transport or accommodation costs apply.
Treat a Directory as a Starting Point
A profile makes discovery easier; it does not replace independent checks. Before paying a vendor:
- review recent work relevant to the service being booked;
- confirm the event date and delivery team in writing;
- request an itemised scope and payment schedule;
- understand cancellation, refund and postponement terms;
- verify the individual or business receiving the payment;
- keep agreements and receipts.
Marriage In Nigeria also publishes client experiences from wedding vendor requests, but each couple remains responsible for choosing and vetting a vendor.
Let Vendors Respond to a Clear Brief
Couples who do not want to contact profiles one by one can post a wedding vendor request. A useful brief should include the required services, event type, location, date, guest count, budget and preferred contact method.
Better information makes vendor responses easier to compare.
What the Findings Mean for Wedding Vendors
Clear Positioning Matters in Large Categories
Photography, planning, decor and catering are well represented. Vendors in those categories need more than a category label to stand out. A useful profile should explain the business’s location, preferred type of wedding, service style, typical deliverables and evidence of recent work.
Multi-Service Claims Need Proof
One in three profiles lists multiple services. That can be a commercial advantage, but only when each service is explained clearly.
If a business offers planning and decor, photography and videography, or catering and cake, the profile should show whether the work is completed in-house, through a regular team or through external partners. Couples should not have to guess.
Thin Categories and Locations Deserve Attention
Low representation can make it harder for couples to compare local options. Vendors in specialist categories or less represented states can strengthen the directory’s usefulness by creating complete, accurate profiles.
That does not guarantee demand or bookings. It does mean a relevant business may face less direct competition within the same platform filter. Wedding professionals can review the process to become a vendor on Marriage In Nigeria.
What This Data Cannot Tell Us Yet
A credible report should be clear about its limits. This dataset does not establish:
- the total number of wedding businesses operating in Nigeria;
- how many bookings each category receives;
- average wedding vendor prices;
- the value of Nigeria’s wedding economy;
- vendor response or conversion rates by service and location;
- customer satisfaction across every category;
- whether a low profile count represents low supply, low demand or incomplete platform coverage.
Those questions require additional data. Future editions can become more useful by tracking changes between snapshots, request activity, response patterns, verified reviews and other aggregated marketplace signals where appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the total number of wedding vendors in Nigeria?
No. The report covers active profiles listed on Marriage In Nigeria. It is not a census of every wedding vendor operating in Nigeria.
Why do the service percentages add up to more than 100%?
Vendors can list more than one service. A single profile may therefore appear in several service categories.
Why do the location percentages overlap?
Some profiles state that they operate in more than one state or territory. Ninety-five profiles in this edition mention multiple state-level locations.
Which service is most represented on Marriage In Nigeria?
Photography is the largest category in this edition, appearing on 1,266 of the 4,241 active profiles analysed.
Which location has the most vendor profiles?
Lagos is the most represented stated location, appearing on 1,424 profiles in this edition.
How often will this report be updated?
The report is designed as a living resource. Its URL will remain unchanged while the snapshot date, figures, charts, tables and interpretation are refreshed at meaningful directory milestones.
Why might the live directory show a different number?
Profiles can be added, updated, deactivated or removed after an edition is published. The report’s figures should therefore be read with their stated snapshot date, while the live directory reflects the platform’s current results.
